Getting started
Hello and welcome to my web site's free art lessons. I believe that art
should be shared and enjoyed by each and everyone. I hope that sooner
or later, you'll come up with your own new paintings for everyone to
appreciate. Feel free to show me your works as well.
Before we can see a finished painting hanging on the wall, we got to do a painting first and everything starts with drawing. Before we go into using canvass, oil paints and brushes, we must first use sketch pads, pencils for sketching and an eraser. Regarding pencils, HB and 6B pencils are nice to have around. HB means Hard Black. This creates light lines and is ideal for initial sketches. 6B is the softest black meaning you can really put in your sketch as much black as you want. There are several pencils in between HB and 6B and each pencil has a different degree of hardness/softness.
Mistakes are inevitable so bring along a soft rubber or plastic eraser whenever you're sketching. If you already have your sketch pad, pencils
and eraser then we can start drawing.
